In the serene village of Armenoi, Greece, renowned for its ancient charm, Villa Methexis emerges as a beacon of modern design within an old stone facade. Designed in 2023 by Alkisti Roussou, this rental villa masterfully balances the original architectural essence with contemporary flair. From seamlessly integrated modern amenities to preserving rustic details, every element speaks of harmonious transformation.

About Villa Methexis

Restoring Timeless Beauty

This project revitalizes an old stone single-family home and its environs. The goal? Make minimal changes while retaining the residence’s architectural charm. Indeed, we kept the home’s exterior shell largely untouched, with the exception of two added windows for improved lighting and ventilation.

Honoring the Past with Modernity

The extensive entrance hallway, flanked by distinctive rooms, remains. However, those separate rooms now serve as ensuite bedrooms. Interestingly, we tore down just one interior wall, effortlessly merging the living room with the kitchen.

Elevating Outdoor Living

Originally, the outdoor area’s altitude variation hindered utilization. So, we introduced two distinct levels, bridged by an expansive staircase. Directly accessible from the living room, the lower level transforms into an inviting outdoor dining space, complete with a BBQ. Meanwhile, a quaint swimming pool graces the uppermost level.

A Fusion of Tradition and Contemporary Design

In terms of furniture, we prioritized the home’s traditional essence, gracefully infusing modern lighting touches. The dominant theme? Earthy hues and rustic wood, presenting a cohesive color palette. Plus, we painstakingly preserved and, when necessary, restored the classic wooden ceiling.
