De Rotterdam Building designed by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture.
It is embodies the concept of a vertical city: three interconnected towers that integrate offices, apartments, a hotel, conference facilities, shops, restaurants, and cafes. Its inception dates back to 1997, and construction commenced at the close of 2009, culminating in completion by 2013. Situated within the ongoing transformation of the old harbour district of Wilhelminapier, adjacent to the iconic Erasmus Bridge, the towers aim to revive the bustling urban energy - encompassing trade, transportation, and leisure activities - once synonymous with the neighborhood. The name "De Rotterdam" pays homage to one of the vessels of the Holland America Line, which historically departed from Wilhelminapier, carrying numerous European emigrants bound for the US.
