In the "Layers of the the Cities" photography series, I examine the layers created by every element that enters the photographic frame: the buildings side by side and alone, with their own different forms, textures, colors and materials; the people and the city animals passing by at that time, the nature and geography of the area where the buildings are located. These coming together, which may not be noticed at different times of the day, form layers in my eyes, like different but compatible pieces of a puzzle, through photography.
The combination of harmonious and incompatible differences, which can be seen a lot in Istanbul, the city where I started photography, intuitively formed my view of photography over time. In the explorations I made through photography in each new city I visited, I documented the popular structures and sometimes the structures and cityscapes that caught my attention as I was passing by. The conscious and unconscious combination of the different factors I mentioned above formed the layers of these cities in my memory that I created through photography.
Layers of Rome consists of 23 images which were taken during my first visit there in 2016.
