Nature Meets Design at Casa Credai

Architect Andrea Dal Negro brought to life a peaceful home in the Trentino mountains, Italy. This serene retreat, close to a forest, is perfect for his parents. It’s a place where four pets play and a lush garden grows, celebrating a life close to nature.

A House with a View

Casa Credai overlooks the stunning Dolomites. Its big windows let in lots of sunlight, making it eco-friendly and cozy. The design mixes day and night areas, work and rest spaces, all close to nature. It’s a place where indoors and outdoors feel like one.

Casa Credai’s Unique Design

Set 3280 feet high on Mount Roen, the house faces southwest for the best sunlight and views. It has two main levels and a basement, resembling local houses. The top part of the house is split into three areas, each with different roof shapes. This design plays with light and shadow, creating a lively look. The house uses special windows and loggias (covered galleries) for heating in winter and cooling in summer. It’s surrounded by a beautiful garden, a woodshed, and a place to grow veggies.

A Cozy and Connected Living Space

The heart of Casa Credai is a bright and big living area. There’s a fireplace, a kitchen with a stone island, and a study. A large window opens to the garden, blending the house with nature. The ground floor also has a bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, and garage. Upstairs, divided into three parts, is a library and study area that overlooks the living space below. This design encourages family time and lets in plenty of sunlight.

Private Spaces for Relaxation

A bridge in the library leads to quiet bedrooms. They’re like small wooden houses, offering views of the garden and scenery. There’s also a sauna with a view of the Dolomites. Dal Negro chose materials and furniture that reflect his parents’ style, using oak wood for a warm feel.

Casa Credai fits in with local styles using plaster, wood, and slanted roofs. It’s built with eco-friendly materials and has a plaster ground floor and wood-covered upper levels.

The house is energy-efficient, with a heating system that’s good for the environment. It also has solar panels on the roof, making the house self-sufficient in energy.
