Breaking free from the monotony of identical living spaces, this abode is a celebration of asymmetry and wabi-sabi—a concept that finds beauty in imperfection. The designers have reimagined traditional layouts, creating a seamless flow of bright, airy rooms that maximize natural light and foster a connection with the space. From the curved walls that defy convention to the versatile furniture that challenges form and function, Undefined Living is a testament to living simply and authentically in Vietnam’s vibrant metropolis.

Redefining Urban Spaces

In a new, cutting-edge urban district, DQV.Architects have shunned the commonplace ‘hanging box’ apartments. They’ve crafted a space with asymmetrical walls and textured finishes, offering a distinctive, organic feel.

Simplicity as the Ultimate Sophistication

The design applauds the owners’ minimalist lifestyle, stripping away excess in favor of simple elegance. From the ground floor to the two upstairs bedrooms, a tranquil off-white palette induces relaxation, while curves gently break the rigidity of traditional angles.

A Fluid, Light-Filled Layout

Spanning roughly 1,485 square feet (138 square meters), the original three-bedroom duplex transformed to suit the owners’ needs. Removing a ground-floor bedroom allowed for an expansive living room, bathed in light from generous windows. The kitchen, now compact, reflects the owners’ straightforward culinary style, enhancing the living area’s spaciousness.

Undefined Living emphasizes an open, adaptable ground floor. Here, furniture and layout embody wabi-sabi, embracing imperfection’s beauty. Multi-functional pieces, like a large central table, serve diverse purposes. Natural light floods through expansive windows, softening traditional boundaries. Upstairs, privacy prevails, with the staircase marking the transition to personal spaces.

The void’s 13-foot (4-meter) ceiling ensures daylight throughout. Ground floor vinyl floors create a seamless look, directing focus to the raw curved walls. This cohesive design enables the owners to forge a deep bond with their living environment.
