About Timavo
A Classic 60s Apartment Reimagined
Situated on the first floor of a 1960s building designed by architect Luigi Cosenza, this apartment originally featured three distinct blocks: the living room, bedroom, and bathroom, all accompanied by large balconies and covered outdoor areas. The living room, characterized by a spacious hall, received an abundance of natural light and was accessible through the main entrance.
Transforming Dark Spaces into Inviting Areas
The service zone, once a large and dark block with fragmented rooms, was located at the back of the apartment. Although this block included a sizable loggia typical of the era, it was completely hidden from the rest of the apartment. The bedroom block was preceded by a long, dim corridor, highlighting the need for a reorganization that would integrate external spaces and create continuity within the interior.
A Vision of Conviviality, Brightness, and Depth
Thanks to a close collaboration with the owners, the apartment now reflects the client’s vision of “conviviality, brightness, and depth.” Boasting a warm bourgeois and contemporary aesthetic, the redesigned space features removed partitions, nearly eliminated hallways, and a large living room that embraces natural light and outdoor spaces.
A Dining Room with a View
Overlooking the west-facing hillside of Ischia, the living room now floods light into the once-dark back area. The centrally located dining room acts as the heart of the apartment, connecting surrounding spaces with its Astrum table and Caracatos chairs by Maxalto. A Nabila light by Tooy adorns the ceiling, while an Effetti kitchen opens onto the dining area, separated by a glass wall with doors.
Functional and Aesthetic Boiserie
White wood boiserie, crafted by skilled artisans, lines the walls of both the dining hall and living room. More than just a decorative element, the boiserie cleverly conceals storage spaces for items such as the living room television and main entrance wardrobe. Additional accents include mirrors by Labanto Torino and a burnished iron console by Giuseppe Di Dodo.
A Living Room Designed for Conversation
The living room’s boiserie hides cabinets and tech equipment, while the central Saint German sofa by Poliform provides a sinuous and enveloping shape, perfect for conversation. Completing the space are a Lullaby armchair by Porro, a Bulbullia wall lamp by Luceplan, and a Lady in green velvet by Cassina. The pastel green walls and matching ceilings seamlessly blend with the surrounding landscape.
Sleeping Quarters and a Luxurious Bathroom
The bedroom walls feature Les Dominotiers wallpapers, with dark wood flooring and warm-toned coverings creating a cozy atmosphere. The main bathroom showcases Ariostea’s gres and Ritmonio faucets in burnished brass, complemented by lighting from Flos.
