The Anzeiger-Hochaus in the center of Hannover was built in 1928 by the publisher August Madsack. In the first skyscrapper and the adjoining buildings he accommodated the editorial, publishing and printing house of his “Hannoverschen Anzeiger”. From 1947 to 1974 the skyscrapper accommodated the news magazine “Der Spiegel” and the weekly magazine “Stern” until the “Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung” was launched in 1949. After Madsack Media Group moved out in 1974, the printing hall was initially used as a “Rotation” club. Today the building accommodates  various TV and radio station editorial offices.

The 51 m high building with the characteristic facade in the style of brick expressionism is unique for the German skyscrapper construction with its attached dome in green patinated copper cladding. The city’s planetarium was once located under the 17 m high dome. After this was burned out in the Second World War, the highest cinema in Germany, the “Hochhaus-Lichtspiele”, was located here until 2018. In 2019 the building was completely renovated and the dome was equipped with a special Nordic Green patina that was individually adapted to the existing building in coordination with the monument protection. Today the Anzeiger-Hochhaus adorns 1,300 m2 of Aurubis Nordic Copper.
