A penthouse located in the heart of Singapore, this 265sqm abode housed a music connoisseur and his family.

The home is designed with his hobby in mind without sacrificing any of the premium lifestyle the family is used to. The couple lives with their 2 young kids and a domestic helper.

This interior design focus on creating a clean-line contemporary home with different spaces being defined by the various volumetric forms introduced.

These “volumes” are characterised by curves to scatter the sound energy while defining each respective space with the different materials used. For example, the open kitchen is designed as an “incision” into one of these volumes while maintaining its clear segregation from the main living space. Beneath these smooth fluid surfaces lie many functional implements like wine preparation station, storage cabinets, electrical services and so on.

The main living area is denoted by the timber-slated drop ceiling which serves to hide the main light source and aircon diffuser as well as helping with the absorption of the sound emitted from the giant speakers below. The low full-length TV cabinet is specifically designed to house the special acoustic equipments and trunking.

For the rest of the living area, the homogeneity of the flat white ceiling is suddenly “disrupted” by a protruding “air well” sculpture. This recessed lighting feature as well as sound diffuser denotes the dinning area. Beyond this, the giant blue shelving system would define the exteriors of the master bedroom.

Acoustic wise, the open book shelves together with the books and displays act as both sound diffuser and absorber.

The mirrors at the private lift lobby help to stretch the narrow space visually. Shoes are kept in the well-concealed full height pull-out cabinets which are tucked to the extreme end of the lobby to eliminate clutter at the entrance of the home.

All other areas of the home including the bedrooms are given similar fluid treatment with concealed but easy-to-access storage areas.
