This is a fruit and vegetable store and cafe space in a residential area of Higashi-Osaka City ,Japan.

The client wanted to create a store space for selling fruit and a café space for tasting fruit.

He wanted to decide on the division of the store area and layout after the space was finished.

In order to create an architectural framework while avoiding contradictions between what was planned and how the space would be used after completion, we devised the following layout, construction methods, and facility plans.

(1) Layout: To open the vacant lot to the town in an open manner and to accommodate outdoor sales, a rectangular layout plan was adopted along the depth of the site. The storefront is a series of four 2.7 x 3.6 m rooms, with a window and aisle in the center to allow the line of sight to penetrate through the storefront.

(2) Construction method: The building is built on a RC foundation with columns and beams and a folded-plate roof on top of the foundation.

(3) Facilities: The wall design should be flexible enough to accommodate additional facilities around the exterior walls, such as ventilation fans, and easy to add furniture and postings. The lighting system is also designed to be easy to add or move to other locations.

As a result, the completed structure has contours that evoke a variety of settings and uses, and the wildness of the materials and the meticulous precision of the skilled carpenters coexist in this space.

The layered windows open to the street, transmitting a view of the store's interior and the fruits of the four seasons.
