Always known as the Park Beach Plaza Woolworths entry this space had long relied on just being a thoroughfare to the major supermarket. The rejuvenation of this entry involved improving its activation for outdoor dining, providing it with a new identity and maintaining it as the major entry to the shopping mall.
The awning was significantly extended to the carpark edge and along the shop frontages, whilst incorporating a variety of new retail tenancies. With a western aspect the height of the awning was kept low whilst the façade extended in height to allow for tenant signage and to be visible from the highway.
The perforated metal façade veil was a reference to the existing multi-level carpark screens and gives a sense of movement as it folds along the entire length of the canopy structure. The colours reflect the notion of sand, sea and water, which is also a reference to the centre’s branding. Below the canopy which appears to float on slender posts, is the incorporation of soft and hard landscaping and timber seating that is used by people dining or waiting.
