IDEO O2 carries out a concept which intricately connects the residents with nature by creating an urban forest enriched with biodiversity built around spectacular activities right at their home. It is located in Bangna, a district facing many problems like increased traffic, air pollution, urban heat, and insufficient green spaces.

The IDEO O2, being centered around promoting Zero-Carbon Residents, is strategically close to the Sky train station, thereby making public transportation more attractive to the locals, thus alleviating some of Bangna’s problems by reducing car usage and promoting greener living standards. With the aim of adding oxygen and cooling down the city, the concept of O2=oxygen was successfully implemented by adding outdoor gardens and recreational spaces, up to 60% of total area. The project encourages people to stay active and stay in shape with a wide range of outdoor activities

The design has a unique three-layered of activities; underground, on the ground and above ground. The design team also concerned about the traffic control, they set up an activities schedule in order to optimize the usage of the amenities for the users’ satisfaction. The activities like the elevated bike, jogging trail and swimming pools are conveniently linked to serve their specific purposes in the designated outdoor space, giving residents a chance at a happier and healthier lifestyle.

In regard to the ecological aspect, the design team continue the concept of Zero-carbon residents to create an urban forest and bring back biodiversity to the area. The goal is to use these new green spaces to help reduce problems like urban heat and air pollution, which are getting more intense every year. The site is located on the lowland along Chao Phraya River. The design team carefully preserved the existing trees and chose new plant materials that are native and tolerant of high underground water and saltwater intrusion. In addition, to help filter fine dust PM 2.5 and purify air quality, plants’ selection consists of those with rough hairy texture and contain large amount of small leaves. As the result, inside IDEO O2 the temperature is much lower compared to the one on the street area. Also, PM2.5 rate is having decreased.

IDEO O2 is a distinct innovative residential project that provides various pleasant facilities. Giving its residents a satisfying outdoor experience, as they gaze at beautiful nature and take in fresh air.
