TERRITORY OF RELAXATION AND ACTIVATION OF DIALOGUE WITH NATURE

- Part of 2nd stage of Yenisei embankment improvement

The right-bank embankment of the Yenisei River, being implemented as a complex public and recreational space, was designed by a consortium of five architectural studios. The territory was divided by the authors into several thematic and environmental zones, which were developed by different studios.

For the second stage, our team worked on the project of the territory of relaxation and activation of dialogue with nature.

Before the improvement, the project area was a natural river bank that was spontaneously used as a beach, surrounded by thickets of bushes and trees. And, after talking with the residents, we realized there was a strong desire to keep this space in its current environmental condition.

A beach area has been landscaped on this site, consisting of a solarium and a beach volleyball and badminton area. In the upper part of the trapezoidal section, there is a canopy from a structural system on a wide stone terrace. At the next stage of the improvement of the embankment, a glass pavilion will appear here, structured into a shell system of the canopy. It will house a summer cafe with soft drinks and coffee and rentals of bicycles, rollerblades, and skateboards, as well as equipment that provides recreation on the water. In winter, the rental room will be used as a warm room for the cafe.

On the east side of the canopy platform, there is a round bench encircling and focusing attention on the growing poplar. This site offers a general panorama of the island, the Abakan channel, the solarium area, and waterfront facilities.

On a small promontory protruding towards the river, there is a two-level terrace with an amphitheater, made on the basis of the same structural system as the canopy. Actively moving out and bringing visitors closer to the water, the terrace is deployed with its amphitheater to the distant visual landscape landmarks of the city - to the mountain Nikolaevskaya Sopka and the picturesque Yenisei sunsets.

The wooden structures of the objects form the stylistic integrity of the embankment, interacting with the green landscape to create comfort and form new behavioral traditions for the embankment visitors. The space of the territory, its objects, and its communications form an event scenario where unobtrusive activity and comfortable relaxation make it possible to hear, see, and feel the light, smells, and voices of nature.
