Located on the communal agricultural fringes, the plot, thanks to a relief of edge of plain, overlooks the historic village center. The landscape and the slope of the terrain dictated the layout of the uses. Being seen from afar, the new construction had to be thought of as part of the larger landscape.
Inspired by agricultural architecture and the local climate, the project proposes a compact volume for a close relationship between form and material. The two entities of the program take roots in the slope.
For a better control of the supply of natural light and to ensure a development that requires a more consistent height, the wine-growing activity was placed on the ground floor.
Located above the cellar and facing south, the house develops on a single level around a large volume dedicated to living spaces (kitchen, dining room and living room). Rooms are organized on both sides: on one side a master suite with adjoining shower room, and on the other two smaller bedrooms with a shared shower room. A large terrace extends the interior spaces of the foyer, offering future residents a breathtaking view of the plain sheltered from the winds.
In response to its context, the building is designed from recyclable materials. The mixed wood and raw earth frame ensure a natural control of the hygrometry in the cellar and a harmonious integration in the environment. The thickness of this complex is revealed by narrow openings protected by wooden shutters.
As the winery already benefits from a bioclimatic design, it aims to become an energy-self-sufficient construction in the medium term.
