An exposed concrete chimney stack creates an internal fireplace & external fire-pit providing an inside outside space for entertaining or contemplating.

The black charred timber overhang reduces summer solar gain and the concrete creates a solar mass for retaining the winter heat. This passive solar heating & cooling stabilises the internal temperature and reduces energy consumption.

Internally the open plan space uses a simple palette of natural complimentary materials. All original features were retained and carefully restored with modern sustainable heating system and insulation.
