Tsukuba Mental Clinic have a medical facility on 1st floor and a  social rehabilitation support facility on 2nd floor. Mental Clinic don't have medical instruments, but It have only people and space. So I designed it being based on the space healing patients a disease. This clinic don't look like the clinic. The entrance and lobby look like a hotel, the examination room look like your dining room. The social rehabilitation support space look like a cafe. You would like to go to Tsukuba Mental Clinic,even if you don't need it.

The client's brief is that the space can heal patients a disease. The client siad that a patient who could't talk something became talking something. So I designed it not looking like a clinic. In second  the client's brief is that the clinic is like the third place where the patient can feel free to go. For that, the entrance is behind not caring about people’s eyes, but the inside space is bright and open.

The planning constraint is that the land isn't enough wide area for getting the cliant's requests. For that, the entrance and lobby have length depth and wide void. It was difficult that the wood construction have the length span.

And the cliant's request is that the examination room on 1st floor isn't under the social rehabilitation support space on 2nd floor for noise.  So my idea reached creating dynamic and fantastic structure.

It's symbolic that the outwall in 1st floor have continuity several wide arch windows that are calm impression.

It's like strength that the outwall in 2nd floor is imaged like black steel.

I designed it being based on the space healing patients a disease. And I thought what impact the space give patients.

I used gold color in some part. That's why I expressed not only relax but strength. For example the beige floortile and wood colum which have relax in lobby with  gold steel vertical lattice express the strength in the relax. And The continuity several wide arch windows give calm impression to patients. The entrance and lobby look like a hotel, the examination room look like your dining room. The social rehabilitation support space look like a cafe. You would like to go to Tsukuba Mental Clinic,even if you don't need it.

The construction is wood structure. 

It was difficult that the wood construction have the length span, is used colum of 240X240mm.

For example, the entrance and lobby have length depth and wide void. And the outside parking is under the social rehabilitation support space on 2nd floor.

If possible you don't want to go the Clinic, don't you? I feel down more by clinic atmosphere. 

But in this clinic, the patient can feel free to go, even if you don't need it. Moreover, I hope that It became the community thirdplace where people of that area who aren't patients can visit.

I want to connect to SDGs as our human's souls and community return to the origin.

As minimise waste by degitalization system, cashless and paperless reduce the buildingʼs embodied and operational carbon footprints. And this building have soler power panels. For that, all electricity is supplied by self-generated.
