A residential area in Schagen with a view on the water and surrounded by greenery is the beautiful location for this new school of the Kopwerk and Kappio Foundation for children aged 0 to 12 years. The building is a combination of a primary school, daycare and after-school care. Circular economy is a central theme in this project. The school has a pavilion-like design with an outdoor classroom and a learning square with trees as columns. This outdoor classroom, in which children are encouraged to explore and discover for themselves, is directly connected to the central learning square in the school and the park. This literally makes it a connecting link between inside and outside. The outdoor classroom distinguishes De Nieuwe Ark from other schools.
