With Sydney Harbour as its spectacular backdrop, Deloitte’s new headquarters by Hassell is full of surprises. Located inside the new Quay Quarter Tower, the project enables a hybrid workplace with seamlessly integrated technology.

Designed amidst the lockdowns, Hassell and Deloitte combined their insights on modern work trends to create a captivating and sensory-rich environment that prioritises sustainability. Curated with eco-friendly materials and plenty of plants to boost air quality and provide a calming connection to nature, it’s a space that nurtures a strong sense of belonging, connection and confidence.

Arranged over 14 floors in four interconnected ‘vertical villages’, each village caters to the diverse work styles, roles, personalities and preferences within the Deloitte community. Teams are assigned to a village as their base camp rather than a floor to allow flexibility and promote movement. Addressing individual ways of working, Hassell has also provided comforting private spaces for quiet moments of respite and rejuvenation.

Reflecting the local context, each of the three lower villages embodies a distinct Sydney experience, from the verdant parklands of the Botanic Gardens to the blue waves of Bondi. Upstairs, the client-facing levels offer a layer of formality with a design that speaks to Sydney’s attributes as a global city.

Hassell worked hard to help Deloitte achieve its ESG (environmental, social, and governance) goals, create a fossil-free workplace, and achieve sustainability ratings, including the 6 Green Star and Platinum WELL certifications.

Deloitte’s new workplace embodies a transformative approach to place-making. It’s imbued with a captivating sense of place that quite literally draws people. It encourages active participation and instils innate pride, already becoming a place people love.
