Magnificent altars of Krakow churches - part I
St. Anne's Church in Krakow The temple was consecrated in 1703. Previously, there were two other churches on this site. The first one burned down in 1407, the second was demolished in 1689.
Holy Trinity Church A historic church located in the Old Town of Krakow, connected with the Dominican convent. Consecrated in 1223.
St. Mary's Basilica
The construction of St. Mary's Basilica began in the 13th century on the foundations of an earlier Romanesque church. The new temple was consecrated around 1320. Over the next centuries, the church was rebuilt many times. There is a magnificent altar inside. Work on the altar of Wit Stwosz lasted from 1477 to 1489. During World War II, it was looted by German barbarians. He returned to Poland after 7 years in 1946, and to the basilica only in 1957.
Church of the Holy Trinity (Bonifratri) The church, built in the late baroque style, was consecrated in 1758. In 1812 the church was taken over by the Order of Brothers Hospitallers.
Church of Saint Catherine and Saint MargaretKrakow is a city of Catholic churches. There are about 140 of them here, and there are about 30 more chapels to be added. One of the most impressive is the Gothic Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria and Saint Margaret, located near the city center.
St. Nicholas Church in Krakow A beautiful, intimate Roman Catholic church, which, although located in the center of Krakow, is not known by tourists.
