The building is located in a residential area planned as a continuation of Pamplona's second urban expansion. The urban planning forms a grid of blocks that repeats the grid structure of the widening of the city in the last century, but forming open blocks with a semi-private space inside them.

Two independent buildings conceived as a whole are planned. An L-shaped building and a linear rectangular building to the north-east of the unit.

The continuity of the interior-exterior space created by the open block is transferred to the volumetry of the building, treating the façades as a continuous element between the interior and exterior. The existing colours on the façades of the buildings in the Ensanche are analysed: mortar, limestone and brown, ochre and orange bricks. They are interpolated by means of a spectrum of colours that varies between the interior and the exterior of the block in the manner of a braided geode. The exterior adopts more discreet, darker tones, while the interior adopts more vibrant, intense and lighter tones. The façade also reinforces the concept of the colours of time: rust, dents, wind-worn corners?

The disorderly composition of the windows, made in colours similar to the façade, makes it possible to control the harshness of scale of the buildings caused by the formal conditions of the planning. The volume appears as a more abstract and a-scalar entity. The friendly aspect of the whole is emphasised. The curved corners favour the sensation of a continuous façade that is sought, enhanced by the continuous banding that finishes off and groups the openings.

ASPECTS OF INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY

This exercise in colour allows the façade to be built using a simple and economical system, such as the use of a ventilated façade with profiled steel sheeting.

We understand that, especially in the case of social housing, energy efficiency must be very high. The construction solutions adopted have made it possible to achieve an A energy rating, mainly due to:

- The ventilated façade systems, carpentry, glazing and roofs with high thermal insulation.

- The production of high-performance centralised heating, with control, individual consumption and domotic management.

- The contribution of solar thermal energy.
