Location:Nishikujo Osaka Japan
Project Year:2024
Category:Shops
The building is located iNishi-Kujo, Osaka City, and is designed to two tenants on 2 floors. The design proposed concrete walls as the main structure from the viewpoints of disaster resistance ,and wood roof structrewhich is excellent in terms of thermal insulation, ventilation, and workability.
The partition walls of the staircase are made of black leather iron, reflecting the local character of the area with many iron workshops, and can be removed when the upper and lower floors are used as a single room. The black iron can be used for magnetic displays, the concrete can be used for wall displays with separator holes, and the wooden frame can be used for DIY hanging.
The two front and rear walkways were used to allow light and wind to pass through the double-sided glazed space, creating a wind tunnel into the structure of the city.
Nishikujo in Osaka is an area of dense row houses and commercial buildings, wooden and concrete structures, and a mixture of old and new. We hoped that this building, while seemingly on a residential scale, would also incorporate commercial uses, mix materials, and express the local character while creating a new expression for the site.
