When the psychoanalyst approached HōRA Arquitetura & Design to design her clinic in Cuiabá, her main request was to create a safe and corfortable space. These keywords resonated in extremely relevant design decisions: acoustic isolation and separation of spaces (to ensure privacy), as well as a gentle ambiance with meticulous selection of materials and finishes. Thus, the project can be summarized by the characteristics: timelessness, serenity, comfort, and authenticity. For the psychotherapy clinic, the pure lines and volumes, the use of color (according to color psychology), and the neutral and wooden tones build the atmosphere of a secure and welcoming space.
The architectural program was to compose a waiting room, a cleaning supplies storage, a lavatory, and a consultation room. Therefore, the challenge was to ensure exceptional acoustic insulation, which would excellently isolate the consultation room from the waiting room, so that a patient waiting for their session would not hear the patient being attended. For this purpose, drywall with acoustic insulation, were specified. Expansive foam was used in the door to ensure that no sound leaked into the waiting area.
In the property, it was imperative to have a spacious room for consultations. In it, the workspace, the consultation area (with the existing couch), and a small pantry area were sectioned (without partitions).
Following extensive research in color psychology, a bluish color palette was chosen, blending with various elements such as chairs, fabrics, cushions, rugs, a minibar, and carpentry. To create the idea of a "protected box," a niche made of drywall frames the cabnets in blue. Thus, a built-in piece of furniture was created in the wall, blending with the blue color and soft lighting. To further reinforce the idea of comfort, the work desk and pantry carpentry were made of wood-patterned MDF. The beautiful blinds, which control the light and the strong sun of Cuiabá, are also made of wood.
The clinic, in this way, embraces the senses and psyche of the patients.
