ABOUT THE DESIGN

The design of Kaori Restaurant & Bar in Miami, crafted by Interior Image Group (IIG) in collaboration with Spazio Bressan, marries Mediterranean and Asian influences to create a sophisticated yet casually comfortable dining environment. The restaurant is situated on the ground level of the SLS Lux complex in Miami's Brickell neighborhood, which is an area known for its vibrant urban setting.

The design leverages the openness and brightness of the space to foster a welcoming atmosphere. It features a two-level structure including a bar and lounge on the first floor, and a dining area, private dining room, and an expo kitchen on the second. Vertical screens throughout the restaurant help to create intimate dining spaces while maintaining an airy feel by gently filtering light.

The use of natural materials such as concrete, metals, linen, sisal, and wood across the space emphasizes a blend of warm neutral tones and cool plasters, contributing to the ambiance that is both elegant and approachable.

Lighting plays a crucial role in the overall design, with origami-like light fixtures and a mix of glass globes and woven rattan pendants enhancing the restaurant's aesthetic. These elements, along with the strategic use of smoky mirrors and custom furniture, round out a design that is intended to be not just a place to eat but a sensory experience that engages guests in a distinctively crafted environment.

MY ROLE

As an Interior Designer for a restaurant design, my role encompasses a range of responsibilities that contribute to creating a cohesive, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment. Here’s a breakdown of my typical involvement in this projects:

- Construction Drawings and Documentation: I produce detailed construction drawings and documentation necessary for the build-out process. These documents include architectural drawings, elevations, sections, and detailed specifications for construction teams.

- Millwork Detailing: I design custom millwork items such as cabinetry, counters, display cases, and shelving. I provide detailed millwork drawings specifying materials, finishes, and construction methods to ensure quality fabrication and installation.

Through these varied tasks, I ensure that each project I undertake not only meets the aesthetic and functional requirements but also adheres to the highest standards of design excellence and operational efficiency.
