Our center seeks to create awareness about one of our biggest worries in the world: water availability.
In Mexico, by 2050, between 4.8 billion and 5.7 billion people are predicted to live in water-stressed areas for at least one month a year, up from 3.6 billion today. The increase in population will cause a decrease in renewable water per capita at the national level.
For this reason we decided to locate our project in Valle de Bravo reservoir, the most important dam in the Cutzamala water treatment system (it provides natural water to Mexico City and its surroundings).
We decided to take advantage of this underused space, so that the people of the area become aware of the resource that they have at their disposal and that is often misused and overexploited. Our interactive water museum and laboratories will be able to create awareness of how important water is and why we must take care of it. Our project will also create consciousness about the flora and fauna of our surroundings and how vegetable patches helps reverse the eutrophication process (excess nutrients in the water).
Looking forward for people to actively participate and get involved in the protection of the environment, by making better use of the natural resources.
