The trio of architects behind the Poland-based architecture firm Znamy się met while studying Architecture together at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Aleksandra Majdzik, Bogna Kawa-Nowak and Wojciech Nowak, still based in Wrocław, have since crafted apartments and offices that meld historic details with contemporary interventions, as well as working on breweries and restaurants. For their most recent project, they transformed a trailer truck into a 325-square-foot mobile hotel for Good Spot. “A huge number of refrigerated trailers withdrawn from the market are imported to our country each year,” Majdzik explains. “Poland is thus becoming a graveyard for these used trucks. We are glad to have made a small contribution to reducing vehicle graveyards.” The exterior is inspired by steel Airstreams, while the inside is defined by warm custom wooden cabinetry. A kitchen and bathroom add function and ease. Two bedrooms enable a family or a group of friends to travel together—perhaps even friends who met at school and stayed connected.
