Vienna
On the edge of nowadays
I've been visiting Vienna for several years in a row and it always surprises me with something new. So far I haven't had a moment when I didn't have something to photograph in Vienna. Maybe it's the relentless growth of the city and the modernization of the existing parts, or maybe it's just that its vastness always engulfs me.
I always think of a visit to Vienna as an endless stroll through the city, interrupted only by hunger and thirst. The wide streets invite me to spend long moments just standing and admiring the architecture, with no urge to hurry on. There is plenty of time for everything. Wherever one thinks it is far away, one gets on a tram or metro and reaches the edge of the city, where something else appeals.
Vienna is modern not only in its new buildings, but in its constant maintenance of old buildings. In sunny weather, the streets literally glow. There are no signs of smoke on the buildings and I have only seen graffiti on the outside of the subway tunnel so far, and then only in certain parts of the city. Vienna is a city of music with a rich history, and I'm happy to see it as millions of people around the world do.
