History of Al-Mu’izz street:

- Al Mu’izz Street is named after the Fatimid Caliph, al-Mu’izz li-Dien Allah who first founded this street

- Today, it’s a mix of midieval mosques and buildings alongside modern vendors and shops

- It’s the largest open-air museum for islamic monuments, and a unique heritage site that was added to the UNESCO world heritage list in 1979

Concept Statement:

- Connecting between Islamic context and modern technologies through making movable screens according to the environmental conditions and also for the privacy.

- The screens will be perforated with the Islamic pattern like the ‘mashrabya’.
