66 Washington is a skylit, Brooklyn loft belonging to Orior’s Creative Director Ciarán McGuigan featuring an impeccably distinct collection of furnishings and objects. Located in a 1930s-era building, the space was originally sectioned off into four or five small rooms. Several years ago, Ciarán and his wife, Logann, renovated the apartment to include an open-plan dining room, living room, and kitchen, plus an adjoining skylit bedroom which now functions as an open, airy entertainment hub. The loft’s old-meets-new aesthetic was led by the McGuigans’ college friend and Orior’s head of design, Jean Morana.
The space not only serves as the couple’s NYC homebase (they also live in Ireland), but as launchpad for Orior prototyping – a true space dedicated to living, ideating, collaborating and creating. In addition to a growing collection from friends of the brand like Bocci, Seungjin Yang, Lou Ros, and Irish vintage dealer Killian McNulty, the interiors feature a selection of Orior’s own products – the Wavy credenza, Marmar table, Atlanta sofa, Bembo credenza, Nero table and Riva console.
Founded by Brian and Rosie McGuigan in 1979 in Ireland, Orior remains a family-and-friends-run business and is committed to working with only the best purveyors and highest quality materials. Orior’s creative process thrives on a dynamic interaction between artists and artisans, whilst keeping a balance between its heritage and a contemporary twist. In summer 2022, Orior unveiled their flagship showroom in SoHo NY, alongside a new furniture collection and Orior Objects line. Later, in September, the brand partnered with renowned designer, Christopher John Rogers, to unveil a limited edition capsule collection. Most recently, the brand launched their Néad series at NYCxDESIGN in May 2023 inclusive of a chair and sofa.
