Designed by... is a unique approach where the designer creates an environment that encourages a product's form to emerge.

Unlike the usual process where the designer actively develops product aesthetics, "designed by" leads to form self-discovery, which results in unexpected and original designs.

Sound was an environment that I've chosen. Despite being intangible in its natural form I sought out ways to visualize its hidden geometry that became a direct inspiration leading to the unusual soundbar design.

Water has been used to translate sound waves into visual form. The video shows its behavior under the influence of different sound frequencies (coming from the speaker underneath the container). Interestingly, the same pattern can be observed in a full range of frequencies but in different scales. The most apparent and repetitive one emerged at exactly 30 Hz (frames below).

30 Hz frequency form study has been a major inspiration that led to both characteristic structure and overall soundbar design, based on the hexagonal shape. The addition of the pattern creates an intricate detail that distinguishes the soundbar from other electronic devices you can find on the market.
