ABOUT

Szimpla is a drinking hub located in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Szimpla means “simple” in Hungarian. The founder aims to create a drinking hub where everyone can come and experience affordable craft beer, food, cocktail, beer pong, and happiness! This is where complicated things become simple, and simple things get complicated.

CONCEPT

On the day we met for a location scout, Szimpla’s founder invited me a bottle of HOPRIZON Full Sail, a local craft beer created by Brewlliant. A famous philosopher once said a good start is already half the journey. A boat with its sail full of wind is riding the tide toward the horizon where dreams and ambition are. This perfect metaphor for the adventurous and indomitable spirit of an individual in pursuit of success and happiness has inspired EMEM to develop the industrial concept for Szimpla.

DESIGN

The space area is narrow and quite suffocating. The hardest part of the project is to design and construct without interfering with the exterior. Our solution is to create an open layout and apply the industrial materials consistently to unify the experience of all five floors.We elevated the ceiling as high as possible and used big black-grid-frame windows letting in a ton of light. We apply industrial elements, including concrete wooden and metal furniture, exposed brick walls, distressed leather, large metal dome pendants, and table lamps to help illuminate industrial spaces.
