The Dnister Hotel is located in Lviv (Ukraine) on Jana Matejka St.- opposite the park of Ivan Franko, close to the historic part of the city and close to other architectural monuments.The task of the contest was renovation of the hotel facade, preserving the composition and style of modernism as the original author's idea: to adhere to the general style of the building, the conciseness of its forms and the rhythm of the elements.

We had to solve the architectural and planning organization of the entrance to the underground floor, to design the composition of the premises of this entrance group with its probable covering. We had to develop a scheme for the organization of landscaping and planning of the surrounding area, taking into account the requirements of inclusiveness, to consider street furniture, bicycle parking.

History of the hotel:

Hotel Dnister Hotel was built in 1982 in Lviv, Ukraine. The main architects are A. Konsulov and L. Nivina. Dnister is a great architectural work that represents the search for the so-called post-reform era in the architecture of Soviet Ukraine. The history of its design and construction shows a truly creative approach of the authors of the project, which was finding the most correct entry in the valuable historical environment, organic merger with landscape of the city park, the original solving spatial elements, material and texture of facades, interiors.

Solution:

The priority task was to preserve the character of the Dnister Hotel building. Leaving the main compositional elements and rhythm of the existing facade, we decided to add modern elements. We used vertical rods made of composite panels with the appropriate step to support the existing façade character. In order to improve visibility, we used panoramic windows, paired with a French balcony with a glass fence in each room. Aluminium inserts in the form of flat plates have inspired us to bright vertical racks, so our solutions honour the image of the primary idea of ​​architects, and at the same time add an imprint of the present.

Алюмінієві ригелі по типу alutech ALT F50 з зовнішніми накладками пропонованою товщиною 150мм (згідно каталогу  AYPC.F50.0521  товщиною 100мм ). Фарбована у колір RAL 70213.  Утеплена фасадна декоративна панель п-подібної форми у плані  та габаритом 250мм на 600мм , виконана з композиту, що кріпиться до вітражної системи задпомогою каркасу (примикання вітражної систмеми до міжкімнатних стін додатково звукоізолюється). Панель фарбована у колір RAL 70214.  Скляне огородження з гартованого скла кріпиться до стійок5.  Енергоощадні  трьохкамерні склопакети6.  Утеплена глуха панель з алюмнію кольору RAL 7021

Entrance to conference hall variant 1:

There are two variants of covering the existing ramp. This is the second entrance to the conference hall which is located on the underground floor. In this variant, facade is covered by relief plates, the same decorative element as on the existing building. We use this to support the overall image and style of the building. In this solution, we replace the tree to create a winter garden, which increases the space inside the entrance group.

Entrance to conference hall variant 2:

According to history, the bridge and stairs leading from the restaurant terrace to the park were dismantled. To support this idea, we connected the restaurant with the new entrance to the conference hall. Due to the newly formed atrium, we keep the tree in its natural climate and allow it to grow.
