17 km promenade with pedestrian paths and bike routes.

The Fucha River is an important water stream that commences in the eastern hills of Bogotá at the height of the Cruz Verde moorland, and crosses the capital in the east-west direction. According to the Territorial Ordering Plan of the city, it is established that along any given river it should be an urban park of passive recreation in which actions of reforestation and care of water sources must be assumed. But nowadays, the Fucha River is mostly channeled and with bad water quality, as well as contamination by rubbish or debris and occupation by street inhabitants.

In 2017, the Bogotá Aqueduct Company - by order of the town hall - hired ‘Castro Arquitectos’ to design a 17 km promenade with pedestrian paths and bike routes. Being such a long project we divide the Promenade in 8 Sections.

Walking and bike times from Fucha River to important places in the City and times touring Fucha River.

The design of the complete promenade was made by Lorenzo Castro, and the office as a team developed the project.​​​​​​​

The project was planed in 3 stages:

STAGE 0: Actual State

STAGE 1: Promenade in the North side of the river.

STAGE 2: Intervention in the North side of the river, including near parks.

STAGE 3: Intervention in the both sides of the river.

We decided to make the bikeway of smooth asphalt pavement and the pedestrian path of rough asphalt pavement. And a reinforced concrete bench, that works as a safety rail and as a retaining wall.
