Could we bring one of Donato Bramante’s most unique

buildings back to life?

The park around the Nymphaeum becomes an open green theater, with seating areas that are slightly sunken intothe ground so they are not blocking the view on the building. In the center of the park there is a gazebo, also sunk into the ground. The park is planned on the basis of existing trodden paths and is aimed only at maintaining the greatness of the Nymphaeum.

Парк вокруг нимфеума становится открытым зеленым театром, с площадками для отдыха, которые немного углублены в землю, чтобы не закрывать вид на здание. В центре парка расположилась беседка, так же утопленная в землю. Парк спланирован на основе существующих протоптанных троп и направлен лишь на поддержание величия Нимфеума.

Our project is based on combination of different eras, revealing all the layers that the building has survived, trying to preserve the spirit of the place and evoke new emotions through the synthesis of past and present.

Наш проект основан на объединении эпохи раскрытии всех слоев, которые пережило здание, старается сохранить дух места  и вызвать новые эмоции путем синтеза прошлого и настоящего.

Architecture

The New Nymphaeum is a multi-layer structure where all layers are visible and retain their meaning. This proposal carefully preserves the existing ruins and allows them to meet the new needs of the city and function in modern realities.

New architecture is based on palimpsest. The main material of the new structure of the Nymphaeum is smooth, light gray concrete, which becomes a neutral backdrop to showcase the tattered, brown ruins.

As the main volume were chosen simple square shapes, which also play in contrast with the carved arches of the Nymphaeum, emphasizing their uniqueness.

Новый Нимфеум представляет собой многослойную структуру, в которой все слои являются видимыми и сохраняют свое значение. Такое предложение бережно сохраняет существующие руины и позволяет им соответствовать новым потребностям города и функционировать в современных реалиях.

Архитектура основана на работе методом палимпсеста. Основным материалом новой архитектуры  Нимфеума стал гладкий светло-серый бетон, который становится нейтральным фоном для демонстрации рваных, коричневых руин. В качестве основного объема было выбрано использование простых квадратных форм, которые так же играют на контрасте с резными арками нимфеума, подчеркивая их уникальность.

Interior

The visitor enters the theater through the first cubic volume - the main entrance, which is made in the module, scale and rhythm of Renaissance architecture, but is devoid of any decorations. In the main hall, there is a shallow pool of water on the floor; as the main element of the Nymphaeum, it flows around the auditorium and the stage, uniting the entire space into one.

Transparent bridges create an airy atmosphere and allow the visitor to plunge into history, into the original idea of creating the Nymphaeum.

Octagon is the final point of the route through the art space. A place where you can meditate in silence, watching how water flows down the roof of the funnel of a new volume, one of the permanent art installations is also located there. The light passing through the vault creates a mysterious and intimate atmosphere.

Посетитель подпадает в театр через первый кубический объем - Главный вход, который выполнен в модуле, масштабе и ритме архитектуры ренессанса, но лишен всяких украшений и декора. Данное помещение так же является и началом арт-прострнаства, которое продолжается уже внутри основного объема. Далее зритель попадает в главный аудиториум со сценой и боковым арт-пространством , которое может быть использован для оркестра или размещения большего количества зрителей.

В главном зале по полу расположился неглубокий бассейн с водой, она как главный элемент Нимфеума обтекает зрительный зал и сцену, объединяя все пространство в одно целое. Прозрачные мостки создают воздушную атмосферу и позволяют окунуться посетителю в историю, в первоначальную идею создания Нимфеума.

Октагон – завершающая точка маршрута по арт-пространству. Место, где можно поразмышлять в тишине, наблюдая, как стекает вода по своду воронки нового объема, там же находится одна из постоянных арт-инсталляций. Свет, проходящий через свод, создает загадочную и камерную атмосферу.

Thus, in architecture, we are moving away from the superficial and formal stylization and falsification of old architecture in favor of the contrast old and new as part of the creation of a common composition of architecture, design, light and feeling, transforming not only the building, but the environment in total.

Since the Nymphaeum becomes an open green theater, it creates a feeling of maximum unity with nature, due to light performance and sound around and inside the room.

Таким образом, в архитектуре мы отходим от поверхностной и формальной стилизации и фальсификации старой архитектуры в пользу контраста старого и нового в рамках создания общей композиции архитектуры, дизайна, света и ощущений, трансформируя не только здание, но и среду в целом. А поскольку нимфеум становится открытым зеленым театром, то благодаря игре света и звука вокруг и внутри помещения создается ощущение максимального единения с природой.​​​​​​​
