As the workshop title suggests, we will tackle the subject of broken, damaged or downgraded by looking at the architecture of Bucharest. We seek to understand how we perceive the constructed or deconstructed spaces, whether private or public, in which we acknowledge these ongoing changes.
How do these transformations affect our daily life within these spaces that are in continuous modification? And why is it important to understand these transformations, especially today when we are mainly flooded with images of war, where cities and houses have been bombed, demolished or degraded? Although the city of Bucharest is not in a conflict zone, the city's state is embedded with conflict signs. Weather signs of improper maintenance, time passing or stray human impulses are clues of a rather unilinear evolution where adaptation and alteration are fundamental.
In this frame, the workshop will explore new means and tools that will help us rebuild, reconstruct or expand, even if only in a two-dimensional format such as a book.
The event is organized by FOI magazine, with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Romania / Ambasada Elveției în România, Swiss Sponsors' Fund Romania.
Participants: Oana Andreea, Anca Țintea, Cătălina Pintilie, Delia Prodan, Iuliana Damir, Szabolcs Egyed, Cosmin Stiglet, Mălin Neamțu, Andrei Șendrea
