ABOUT
The complex of constructions has one main entrance and another one from I. Mikolaychuk Street, and two technical passages from the neighboring bypass streets.
There is a crematorium, columbarium, parking for cars (26) and buses, as well as a park that plays the role of a place for psychological rest and reflection of visitors.
The concept of the project
Is peace. Silence, peace and unity with nature could be the key words to describe it.
Through the main entrance to the crematorium, there can be seen a columbarium through glass, behind which the forest is viewed.
Volumetric-spatial solution
Design and shape of the construction directly affect people's behavior and emotions. And it can both increase feelings of fear and anxiety, and calm them down as well.
Psychologists believe that different types of people express and perceive grief, mourning and eternity in different ways.
For logical people, the symbol of eternity and peace can be cube or pyramid. I applied this principle to the design of the interior of the waiting room in the form of a winter garden, with an evergreen pine tree. It symbolizes life at any time, and natural light entering the common space through the glass roof will add a sense of unity with nature and the feeling of calmness.
For sensory people, these are round forms manifested in the central element of the complex, which in turn physically combines the buildings of crematoriums and columbarium, and ideologically unites one of the world's largest religions - Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism.
For intuitive people it can be a certain ideological image, such as stairs "that lead to the sky". And in my project this role is embodied by the roof of the ritual hall heading up to the sky, emphasized by a light aperture in the wall and ceiling.
For ethics, such a symbol could be a sculpture, the place for which is provided in the columbarium in such a way as to visually complement it with a forest in the background.
All these symbolic forms, sculptural and geometrical compositions have been used during designing the crematorium. So the mood of people can be taken into account as much as possible, for whom this place will be a place of farewell to their loved ones.
Exterior decoration
Concrete, corten and facade metal panels - TERMASTIL. The main characteristics of these materials are environmental friendliness, durability, and resistance to weathering.
The use of concrete is due to the construction, its appearance is not decorated in any way to provide the building cleanliness and simplicity.
Corten gives the accentuation of the facades. Its deep colour and texture give the ceremonial halls even greater expressiveness, emphasing the scale and maximum unity with nature through its transformation under the influence of the environment.
Facade panels Thermastyle complete the composition with facade panels that are as easy to install as possible, but perform many tasks - durability, moisture protection, insulation and add visually lightweight pattern.
Planning
The planning is designed to maximally automate the movement of the coffin from the beginning of its arrival on the territory to the final combustion in the kiln.
The coffin is loaded into a room with cold rooms through hidden additional races in the side facades.
From here, using automated mechanisms on rails, it moves to the ritual hall on a pedestal. After the ritual of farewell - it is lowered to the underground floor by the elevator mechanism, where the same rails are sent to one of the two cremation furnaces.
On the first floor there are: vestibule, wardrobe, zone of registration of the dead, waiting room, ceremonial hall, bathrooms, technical rooms, refrigerating chambers, warehouses, zone of psychological unloading of workers and shop.
Interior
The interior is dictated by the exterior of the complex: simplicity, concise and symmetrical shapes, peace and minimal external impact on visitors. Natural light is also important, which penetrates through the slits in the ceiling and fills the space making it atmospheric.
