Uchi West Hollywood is the West Coast debut of award‑winning Chef Tyson Cole’s lauded Austin, Texas-based Japanese restaurant. Uchi, which means "house" in Japanese, is world-renowned for its delicate balance of elevated food and impeccable service, offering nontraditional Japanese cuisine with signature tastings, sushi and a seasonal omakase.

When opening Uchi West Hollywood, Chef Cole with Texas-based Hai Hospitality Group looked to architecture and interiors studio ORA to combine the local character of Los Angeles with the astonishing creativity and honed craft that Uchi is known for.

“The design brief was that the restaurant should embody a sense of place, and this was our guiding light. ” says Oonagh Ryan, founding principal of ORA. “We collaborated closely with local artists, makers and craftsmen, elevating humble natural materials to create a sense of surprise and connection to the unexpected natural beauty and spirit of our city. The result is an experience that goes beyond the expected.”
