GYÁRKERT
Veszprém, Hungary
The Gyárkert Cultural Park was created to be the main summer venue of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture program series. The pop-up event space, which opened at the beginning of summer, hosted over 60 foreign and Hungarian artist’s concerts and music programs for a period of 4 months. During the day, the rehabilitated multifunctional area of the former Balaton Furniture Factory functions as a freely accessible park.
On the 2-hectare area of the Gyárkert, the realized concept unites the space and makes all function accessible by foot and barrier-free. It allows the area, which functions as a residential park and playground during the day, to accommodate up to 5000 people for events in the evening.
Working on such a project was both a unique opportunity and a challenge, where the function is temporary but subjected to extremely intensive use. Our concept combines functionality with conceptual spatial design in order to create a place where the temporality does not compromise the visual value creation, while the main focus is on the functions and fantastic programs.
