JJP was commissioned by LONG KING CREATION to design an 87,368 square meter industrial park, including product R&D, design, and manufacturing. With over 48 years in the printing industry, LONG KING Group consistently delivers high-quality printing services globally. In 1989, LONG KING established an R&D printing design center to conduct comprehensive research, printing processes, and production methods, fostering the transfer and collaboration of advanced foreign technologies.

As a global leader, LONG KING aims to advance the industry environment. JJP was engaged to enhance the company’s image through several design upgrades: improved sensory systems, optimized production spaces, and updated industrial buildings. Through sustainable design and progressive spatial innovation, JJP echoes upon the client’s printing aesthetics.

JJP has reinterpreted the principles of raised type printing (similar to stamps) into a design concept. The use of surrounding water and angled glass (slanted facades and continuous folds) creates a poetic representation of the printing process through reflections between the glass and water, as well as between the glass panels themselves. Additionally, the interplay of light, glass, and seasonal changes symbolizes LONG KING’s diverse and innovative corporate philosophy and product development.

Design Concept

Printed materials are as essential to our lives as sunlight, air, and water. At LONG KING Nantong Park, nature and architecture blend to create a dynamic “city of impressions.” Green slopes connect living, office, display, and recreational areas, integrating natural ecology with daily life, creative R&D, exhibitions, and innovation.

Sensory System Enhancement——From Visual to Multi-Dimensional Sensory Experience

JJP has created a multi-dimensional sensory experience for the park, engaging visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile, and spiritual senses. Instead of hearing printing machinery, visitors are greeted by the soothing sound of a 5-meter waterfall. The park’s environment was designed to create different scents and colors with the seasons, enhancing the sensory experience for those working there.

Visual Diversity: Buildings, water, and nature reflect a dynamic range of images; seasonal plant changes add new colors and forms.

Auditory Elements: The calming sound of flowing water and bird songs attracted by flowering plants.

Olfactory Features: Seasonal plant blooms produce various fragrances.

Tactile Qualities: Diverse textures from building materials, landscaping, and plant surfaces.

Spiritual Space: Areas designed for meditation and spiritual reflection, providing mental and emotional solace.

Production Space Upgrade

LONG KING’s original Shenzhen park was centered around traditional production, prioritizing efficiency. As the company evolves, the new Nantong park is designed to blend R&D, innovation, design, and production into a creative industrial environment. This upgrade not only maintains production efficiency but also enhances living experiences and sparks creative inspiration.

LONG KING Nantong has evolved from a production-focused company into an innovative enterprise, requiring spatial design to reflect and support this change. This design drives the park’s activities and fosters future sustainable innovation in both cultural and sports facilities.

Architectural Design Evolution—Advancing Industry Insights

Unlike typical corporate display halls that focus on showcasing a company’s history, values, and products, the cultural center in LONG KING’s park includes a Label Museum. This museum highlights LONG KING’s achievements and offers a broad view of the printing, labeling, and sticker industry.

Previously, the LONG KING focused more on production efficiency and accommodation of machinery. Now, LONG KING prioritizes the needs of people, providing a comfortable environment that inspires innovation and creativity.

The architecture uses poetic metaphors to reflect the "printing" theme and the company’s creative vision. The design is sleek and all-encompassing, showcasing the company’s commitment to practicality and excellence.

Industrial Building Evolution

LONG KING Nantong is set to lead printing industry innovation. The park’s design goes beyond traditional processing, creating new, innovative spaces. JJP’s progressive design approach transforms conventional factories into innovation hubs. This transformation enhances brand image, sensory experiences, production spaces and architectural design to hopefully spark a shift towards more environmentally friendly practices across industrial parks.
