This house was planned by the clients as a weekend residence. A place near the city where a large family can gather and spend weekends or holidays together. We received a property with finished renovations, but it didn’t align with the requirements of the new owners at all. It was decided to demolish everything possible and create a layout from scratch, based on the needs of our clients. For example, one of the floors was entirely dedicated to children and play.

The main inspiration came from the lake, near which the house is situated. The once-open veranda became part of the kitchen-living room. With a series of floor-to-ceiling windows, we brought the natural landscape into the house, guiding us in the design of the future interior.

We wanted to create a space that is easy to breathe in and provides the opportunity to truly relax after a long work week. The main focus was on high-quality materials and their textures, and the shades of wood, walls, and furniture were borrowed from the surrounding landscape.

A unique feature of the layout is that you can enter the living room from two sides – through the main entrance and through the kitchen. In the playroom located on the 2nd floor, it was decided to place a large window facing into the house, making it more comfortable for parents to supervise children from the 1st floor. In the kitchen, a utility room is camouflaged, the entrance to which is through a kitchen cabinet.

The large kitchen island was designed according to our drawings. We thought that such length would look massive in the small kitchen space, so we visually divided it into 2 asymmetrical parts to lighten the construction.

During the design, we also faced a challenge: in the old house, there were numerous load-bearing columns. Due to the significant changes in the purpose of rooms in the new layout, they literally obstructed part of the future living room space. We managed to conceal most of them by constructing small partitions that divide the living room into small zones. For example, a library appeared in the living room. We deliberately emphasized one of these columns by wrapping it in a soft oval shape with veneered panels.

In the project, it was important for us to achieve a sense of unity between the outdoor and indoor spaces. Therefore, bright colors are challenging to find in the interior. All shades are borrowed from the natural palette. The only background color of the walls was chosen from almost 20 similar tones.
