Walmart Makers Studio was a multi-seasonal marketing effort put together by the designteam at Giant Spoon. Makers Studio was part of DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion project) for Walmart and the goal of these experiences over the summer of 2023 was to design unique experiences that amplify the Black community through creative resources and collaborative opportunities.
Rock the Bells is a music festival curated by LL COOL J, the founder of Rock The Bells, and the Hip-Hop legend. This year they celebrated 50 years of hip hop at it's birthplace New York City.
architectural and material nods to the city's infrastructure, where hiphop creators have made their indelible marks.
Bringing hip hop inspired wall graffiti to a new canvas: A tagged t-shirt. Attendees were offered the unique opportunity to receive custom-tagged merchandise from one of four live-tagging artists. Everyone left with a piece of tagging culture, worthy of envy!
A hot sunny weekend festival calls for a refresh station powered by Walmart's black-owned beauty brands. From hair touch-ups to skincare, this refresh bar had try-on and takeaways for everyone!
Refresh not just your 'fit and face but also your sneakers. An ode to the sneaker culture that parallels hip hop, this sneaker salon gave attendees a chance to get professional sneaker cleaning done LIVE!
The footprint also offered a space for rest on "the stoop" for attendees to relax, connect with the community, and at some point also get the chance to win some "stoop prizes" based on how well they fared in hip hop trivia!
