Comprising 17 apartments and 3 free-standing homes on a one-acre north-east corner site, Fernhurst demonstrates what can be achieved when trust, talent, and vision align. “From the façade bricks to the smallest interior details, every element in Fernhurst showcases an unwavering commitment to design excellence—a testament to the ingenuity of its makers,” says the team at ANGLE. This commitment permeates every aspect of the project, from its architecture to landscaping, construction, and fittings.

Architecture practice Edition Office has crafted a design response that harmonizes with the site’s heritage and topography. They describe Fernhurst as “a family of buildings, each with a particular relationship to place and all with a focus on exceptional living environments. These buildings are designed from the inside out, connecting seamlessly to life-filled gardens, with an understanding that luxury is found in spatial delight and in how a building makes you feel.”

This ethos materialises in expansive living areas with 3-metre ceiling heights, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The main apartment building, in particular, fosters a life connected to the landscape, seasonal changes, and daily transitions.

Complementing this architectural vision is the landscape design by Eckersley Garden Architecture. Their scheme aims to create a thriving woodland experience, enveloping the buildings in a lush green setting. In their words, “The result is tranquil, explorative gardens that enhance the enjoyment of each space, cultivating an atmosphere of calm and wellbeing. Fernhurst’s residents will watch as the gardens develop and grow with them over time, becoming an integral ‘part of the family’—key to the daily and lasting enjoyment of their living environment.”

The collaborative spirit extends to the materials and fittings chosen for Fernhurst. The development’s signature handmade bricks are the work of Krause, a third-generation Australian manufacturer. These bricks, each bearing the unique mark of its creation, form a façade that will age gracefully over time, reflecting the organic beauty of the surroundings.

Inside, residents will find interiors that prioritise both aesthetics and functionality. World-renowned furniture maker Molteni&C has been engaged to craft joinery for each residence, while premium appliances from Gaggenau ensure that the kitchens are as practical as they are beautiful.
