When the concepts of 1940s and 1950s surrealist art and Italian modernist exhibition design were incorporated into one space, it marked the beginning of a new journey for British eyewear brand Cubitts!

Glasses Brand
Glasses are often associated with nearsightedness, but for Tom Broughton, founder of British eyewear brand Cubitts, a persons relationship with glasses is often determined by the time and environment in which they start wearing them, so glasses should be an object to be liked rather than forced to accept. Based on this philosophy, he founded Cubitts, an eyewear brand based in London, in 2013.

ARCHITECTURE
To integrate Cubitts new flagship store into Angel, a bustling shopping and entertainment hub in north London, design studio Tutto Bene was asked to design the 60-square-metre space. The exterior is a classic yellow color, while the interior is decorated with ornaments related to different art movements, and is transformed into an artists loft through comfortable perspective, reasonable spatial composition and painterly use of color.

ETERNITY
Cubitts founder Tom Broughton has mentioned that they drew inspiration from the optical era when the British eyewear industry was at its peak - that is, the modernism of the 1930s, which gave Cubitts a timeless tone. Even today, people are still influenced by the mid-century modern aesthetic, the most typical representative of which is the round glasses in the English style, which look very scholarly.

Through Tutto Benes conception, the original long and narrow site has a studiolike atmosphere under the strong contrast of light and shadow. At the same time, the residential elements are combined with the original style to create a quiet and comfortable space environment. In addition, the interior mainly uses logical materials and elements, such as green and yellow, Nile glass, and considers how to balance the rich natural light within the black area.
The new Cubitts flagship store is composed of classic elements, rich colors, clever ideas and selected materials, which play and interweave in the space, connecting the past with the present, giving the space new vitality, and ultimately making it a destination for eyewear users.
