Diseño de capilla para Coquí / Church design          Diseño y visualización 3D / 3D visualization             2021

Se realiza el diseño de la capilla para la comunidad de Coquí, al lado del colectivo Radio Manglar y Casa Múcura. El proyecto nace de la necesidad de reconstruir este centro crucial para la comunidad, ya que actualmente se encuentra en un estado de deterioro considerable. El diseño se nutre de la investigación de cinco años que ha realizado Radio Manglar en el territorio para acercarse y conocer a la comunidad.

The chapel for the community of Coquí is designed, in collaboration with Radio Manglar collective and Casa Múcura. The project is born out of the need to rebuild this crucial center for the community, because it is currently in a state of considerable deterioration. The design is nourished by the five-year experience and research of Radio Manglar in the territory.

Uno de los aspectos más importantes a considerar es la durabilidad de los materiales, ya que al encontrarse en una zona costera, se debe tener en cuenta las consecuencias de la humedad y alcalinidad del aire. Además, el transporte de también se dificulta, ya que solo se puede acceder al territorio a través del mar. Por lo tanto, se aprovecha la estructura de hormigón que sostiene la capilla actual y el diseño se concentra en el cerramiento. Para la fachada se utilizan tejidos en Caña Brava, encontrados en territorio y tamizados de ladrillos cerámicos, los cuales, al ser piezas pequeñas, se pueden transportar en lancha.

One of the most important aspects to consider is the durability of the materials, since the project is situated on a coastal area, the consequences of humidity and alkalinity of the air must be taken into account. In addition, the transportation is also a challenge , since the territory can only be accessed through the sea. Therefore, the concrete structure that supports the current chapel is used and the design focuses on the enclosure. For the façade, Caña Brava sticks found in the territory are used, and sifted from ceramic bricks, which, being small pieces, can be transported by boat.

El tejido en Caña Brava es un saber importante en la cultura de Coquí, por lo que se utiliza en el proyecto como método de construcción local. Además, ayuda a la ventilación natural de la capilla, ya que deja pasar el aire caliente acumulado en la parte superior del proyecto, generando un efecto de ventilación cruzada.

The tissue in Caña Brava is an important knowledge in the culture of Coquí, which is why it is used in the project as a local construction method. In addition, it helps the natural ventilation of the chapel, since it allows the hot air accumulated in the upper part of the project to pass through, generating a cross ventilation effect.
