An Interior streetscape is designed to evoke the feeling of exploring a vibrant urban environment. As visitors navigate the mall's interconnected levels, they encounter a variety of engaging elements that create a playful and immersive experience.

A MODERN OASIS IN CHONGQING'S RANJIABA

Nestled within the vibrant Ranjiaba district, a prime locale within Chongqing's inner ring road, CapitaMall Skyview is a meticulously crafted shopping center designed by CLOU. Envisioned as a community hub, this 100,000 square meter space caters to the evolving needs of local residents.

From edutainment experiences to a diverse range of retail offerings and culinary delights, CapitaMall Skyview offers a captivating blend of attractions. It's a destination for leisurely weekend outings and a welcoming gathering place for evenings spent with family and friends.

BREAKING DOWN A LONG ELEVATION

Previous designs for CapitaMall Skyview presented a monolithic, L-shaped structure with limited visual interest. CLOU architects sought to transform this uniform appearance into a more dynamic and engaging facade.

By introducing a series of meandering rooflines, protrusions, recesses, and varying material finishes, the architects have created a layered, three-dimensional effect. This design enhances the visual appeal of the building while preserving the underlying retail functionality.

A striking glazed cube, positioned diagonally at the corner, serves as the mall's inviting entrance, drawing visitors in from the nearby plaza.

White vertical façade louvres of varying depth visually intensify the individual elements, their silver materiality breaking up the surface expanse in soft reflection and texture. Different opacities and glazing types evoke further depth and variation, while parapet lines meander in a composite appearance.

DESIGNING A PLAYFUL INTERIOR URBAN JOURNEY

CLOU's strategy for the interior space is to evoke a sense of comfort and familiarity by incorporating elements of Chongqing's multi-layered urban landscape. Monochromatic sequences of plazas, streets, alleys, and bridges guide shoppers through the retail space, creating focal points and connecting the various levels. 

Spatial attachments like shop windows and balconies line the generous atria, fostering a visual and thematic connection. Bridges crisscross the linear spaces, while retail kiosks animate the circulation areas, adding a lively touch to the journey.

BLUE & BOLD: STREET INSPIRED INTERIOR DESIGN

Inspired by Chongqing's vibrant urban energy, the interior design merges a captivating blend of bold colours and street-inspired patterns. These elements not only enhance the mall's visual appeal but also serve as practical circulation paths. The distinctive design ensures that the mall is easily recognizable both in person and online, making it a memorable destination for shoppers and visitors alike.

The fresh and contemporary ambience of CapitaMall Skyview is further enhanced by a carefully selected colour palette. The standard whites and greys are juxtaposed with a deep blue that highlights the mall's active atmosphere.
