Nestled in a redwood estate in Los Gatos, California, this single-family house is tucked deep among the ancient redwood trees, like a tree house at one with nature. The owners, an elite tech couple who are executives in Silicon Valleys electric vehicle industry, wanted to create an ideal home close to nature as their family grew, while fully upgrading the original 1950s building.

房屋的改造项目围绕如何最大化自然景观展开。原有的低矮天花板和不合时宜的布局限制了空间的潜力，因此设计团队采取了多项策略来优化室内空间。首先，拱形天花板的引入不仅提升了整体高度，还为室内带来了更为宽敞的视觉感受。两层楼的大型落地窗贯穿整个房屋，营造出室内外景观的无缝过渡，使得红杉森林的美景如画框一般嵌入了每个房间。

The renovation of the house revolves around how to maximize the natural landscape. The original low ceilings and anachronistic layout limited the potential of the space, so the design team adopted several strategies to optimize the interior space. First of all, the introduction of vaulted ceilings not only raises the overall height, but also brings a more spacious visual feeling to the interior. Large floor-to-ceiling Windows on two floors run the length of the house, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor views that frame views of the redwood forest into each room.

在功能和美学的平衡中，设计上着重突显了家的温馨与现代感。新的蜿蜒楼梯打破了传统的空间分隔，使得一楼和二楼更加通透、流动，同时为家人和客人提供了更多的活动空间。厨房经过精心设计，作为家庭聚会的中心，它不仅是一个实用的烹饪场所，还是一个可以招待宾客的社交空间。Studio MUKA 设计的厨房半岛与 Mirza Counter 凳子成为设计亮点，凳子的皮革软垫与绿色马海毛格纹面料呼应了整个房屋的石灰水石膏墙，带来了丰富的材质对比。

In the balance of function and aesthetics, the design focuses on highlighting the warmth and modern sense of home. The new winding staircase breaks down the traditional spatial separation, making the first and second floors more transparent and fluid, while providing more space for family and guests to move around. The kitchen has been carefully designed as a hub for family gatherings, not only as a practical place to cook, but also as a social space where guests can be entertained. Studio MUKAs kitchen Peninsula and Mirza Counter stools are highlights, with leather upholstery and green mohair checked fabric echoing the lime-water plaster walls throughout the house, providing a rich material contrast.

The soft design of the home also shows the perfect combination of modern and vintage. The living room features a 1970s Arflex Mario Marenco velvet sofa with a Veranda chair by vintage Vico Magistretti anda 1956 Lamino chair by Yngve Ekstrom. It shows the resonance of different era design. The space is organized around Studio MUKAs solid elm and limestone Raphaelle coffee table, which is hung above by the Noguchi Akari chandelier, adding a soft light and shadow effect. In addition, custom screens hand-painted with oil sticks and acrylic paint playfully punctuate the space in the corner of the living room.

The bedroom design focuses on comfort and privacy. A custom closet door framed in white oak is made from a Dedar silk blend fabric, with details that emphasize texture and refinement, adding an elegant atmosphere to the lounge space. Throughout the house, the designer chose a number of medieval vintage furniture and high-end fabrics, Tibor fabrics, copper sliding doors, and recycled Douglas fir panels to form custom seating corners and desks that are both functional and emotionally memorable.

Through this series of renovations, Redwood Manor House has successfully brought the beauty of nature into everyday life, becoming the ideal home for tech executive couples and their growing families. While respecting the surrounding environment, the design creates a home full of warmth, comfort and timeless design through careful layout, material contrast and careful selection of furniture.
