Design Description: Lagos Home Design 2019 ( LHDC-364636)
The Lagos energy can be described as a pulsating energy. The city that never sleeps; its energy is not just from the infrastructure or location but in its diverse embodiment of people of various tribes, religions, cultural, socio cultural and educational backgrounds.
There exists a need for shared identity. All these characteristics have influenced a Lagos character. A unique Rhythm of vibration.
The idea “vibration” was inspired by the indigenous talking drum as a common language which when beaten produces vibrations of tonal languages, It also reflects the use of locally sourced construction materials and techniques in Nigeria to celebrate cultural relevance while saving costs.
This translated in the design layout as centralized communal spaces which exemplifies togetherness, yet prioritizing their individuality by private access to use of the external terraces because, at the end, the users must rest in a place they call their own which means Ile tiwa n’tiwa in Yoruba Language (The Yoruba language is widely spoken in Lagos, Nigeria, and west Africa)
