Recently opened L'Artichoke restaurant's design centres on creating a flexible, intimate environment that elevates the dining experience while maintaining a connection to nature. Lighting plays a pivotal role, with custom portable table lamps at each seating area, allowing for adaptable arrangements and a personalised ambiance. This attention to detail reflects the restaurant’s commitment to hospitality and craftsmanship.
The space is divided into three distinct zones. Upon entering, the bar area—visible from the street—captures attention with its refined elegance. Moving further in, a smaller zone offers a glimpse into the kitchen, where guests can observe and engage with the chef in a theatrical setting. Finally, the expansive main dining room opens onto a serene, glass-enclosed garden, blending the urban environment with nature in a seamless, calming progression.
Accessibility was a key consideration, with wide pathways, ramp, and flexible seating ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all, including guests with limited mobility, without compromising on style. A vintage artichoke-patterned fabric used as wall art subtly references the restaurant's culinary identity, adding texture and warmth to the overall aesthetic.
The connection between the interior and the garden is a defining feature, with views from almost every seat enhancing the tranquil dining experience. Historical elements such as original stone floors, vintage furniture, and restored columns maintain the space’s authentic charm, balancing tradition with modernity.
Playful touches, like metallic chain curtains in the restroom area, introduce a nostalgic, whimsical element without disrupting the sophisticated design. These details, sourced from local manufacturers, add layers of texture and charm.
