Often seen as the more polished of Australia‘s two biggest cities, Melbourne has a wide array of addresses where a discerning female demographic can indulge in sartorial styles befitting a gala, private party, or a luncheon at the most happening restaurant du jour. Newly founded by Chloe McCormack, who previously led the design team at Australian men’s tailoring brand Oscar Hunt, ChloeMonique Atelier is all about womenswear, and meets an increased local demand for tailored women’s silhouettes. A recently inaugurated retail space has further raised its profile at its home base and the fashion world Down Under. McCormack has secured a retail space on the premier shopping thoroughfare of Armadale, one of the city’s leafiest districts. The interior design, created by architect Adrian Condina, is understated yet elegant and playful, and anchored by an undulating, 30-metre PVC curtain, paired almost halfway with a clothing rack which follows the latter’s curves.

Needless to say, the curves and fluid lines mimic the shapes, patterns and drapes of the garment designs on display. Floor-to-ceiling mirrors on the opposing wall optically enlarge the space, while custom joinery and sculptural furniture pieces add a certain finesse to the setting. An adjacent bar, ensconced in a curved section of PVC curtain, offers clients a place where to sit comfortably back in between shopping and fitting sessions over a glass of bubbly. The fitting room is intentionally designed as an entirely separate space, a grand salon to be precise, featuring walls dipped in a ChloeMonique Sky Blue hue and paired with a matching soft silk blue carpet. Carefully sourced furnishings and fixtures, including large mirrors with integrated lighting, plush tasselled ottomans, and artsy wall lamps crafted from glass and brass heighten the sense of a luxury sartorial haven. © superfuture
