The focal point of this apartment is the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. We designed a compact island, a spacious dining table for 6-8 people and a cozy seating area for friendly gatherings.
In contrast to the spacious common area, the bedrooms are compact. To maintain a sense of openness, cabinets with transparent fronts and dark back panels were chosen, and most of the furniture was raised off the floor with brackets or elegant legs. The wall colors in these rooms are intentionally darker than in the main space - dark surfaces appear further away than light ones. This creates a smooth transition from brighter areas to darker ones without noticeably reducing the space.
These design tricks maximize the feeling of airiness and spaciousness in small rooms, offering an elegant way to increase the perceived square footage without investing in additional square footage.
The children's bedrooms, although compact, are fully equipped with all the necessary things: each room has a work station, a chair for one-on-one conversations and a mirror.
The main color palette consists of mustard and hummus tones, evoking a warm, homely atmosphere and harmonizing with the rich tone of the parquet. To create visual variety, we alternated wood in contrasting coffee and bourbon shades and included trendy shades of blue, green and red in varying intensities.
The most compact room is intended for remote work and can also serve as a guest bedroom. We suggested a cooler sage tone for this space, creating a visual break from the warmth of the rest of the apartment, offering a refreshing contrast.
A unifying decorative element throughout the interior is a lattice "belt" that begins in the dining area and continues rhythmically, reducing the visual height of the closet and disguising niches for curtains.
To give the upper part of the kitchen and the cabinets a lighter feel, we used ribbed glass, which complements the planks with its vertical texture.
Special attention was paid to the placement of lighting. Our concept for this project was to show that overhead lighting, no matter how bright, is not enough to reveal the texture of the interior. Therefore, we used various pendant, recessed, wall and floor lamps that echo each other in shape and material, further uniting the different spaces into a single whole.
