Australia’s leading Build-to-Rent (BTR) provider HOME is now leasing its third offering, HOME Docklands, once again raising the bar in urban living and rental property standards. Located directly adjacent to Marvel Stadium at 687-689 La Trobe Street, the project comprises 676 apartments split across two striking 30 and 31-storey towers with a vision created by the HOME team, working in collaboration with Development Victoria, the City of Melbourne and award-winning architectural firm Cox Architecture. The partnership with Development Victoria and the City of Melbourne demonstrates HOME's commitment to delivering transformative urban renewal projects that align with Melbourne's strategic development goals and its continued focus on design and lifestyle.

At the heart of HOME Docklands is a design sensibility seen across the HOME portfolio which embraces Australian laid-back luxury. The spaces are beautifully curated to celebrate local talent, incorporating pieces by renowned Australian makers and furniture groups including Jardan, Grazia and Co., Sarah Ellison, and Tait, Globe West. Working with HOME’s long-term collaborator and interior stylist Ruth Welsby, HOME Docklands showcases a thoughtful layering of materials, from velvets to boucle, leather, timber, stone, and brushed metal whilst paired with sculptural shapes and bold stripes and checks. Pops of colour punctuate the two towers, adding energy and vibrancy. These carefully selected pieces and materials are not only visually striking but also tactile, making every space feel warm, inviting and ultra-comfortable.

Completing the approach to the HOME Docklands design is an inspiring collection of works by established and emerging Australian artists delivered by HOME’s curatorial partner Craft Victoria. Artists featured in the HOME Art Collection at Docklands include Marta Figueiredo, Carissa Karamarko, Drez, Eamon Donnelly, Grace Wood, Huseyin Sami, Jordy Hewitt, Lilli Waters, Ryan Hoffmann and Zaachariaha Fielding. HOME has made a significant contribution to the many public artworks that surround the HOME Docklands towers, including large-scale sculptural works by Jamie North, Vipoo Srivilasa, Alexander Knox and a light installation work by Meagan Streader. HOME recognises the importance of art and design to inspire and connect our residents and broader community.

The two apartment towers are linked by an expansive floor of resident amenities including state-of-the-art facilities offering a 25-metre swimming pool, a trio of sauna offerings: traditional, infrared and steam, a dedicated reformer Pilates studio and a comprehensive gym overlooking the stadium. These spaces are strategically oriented to maximize views and natural light, with the west-facing lounges capturing dramatic sunsets, the north-facing pool bathed in natural daylight throughout the day and co-working hub positioned for calm harbour views.

“From the outset, our goal with HOME Docklands was to design a landmark that not only offers exceptional residential spaces but also contributes to the vitality of the precinct. The two towers are carefully articulated to break up the building mass, creating a ‘building of buildings’ that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding streetscape," said HOME’s Design Director, Peter Panetta.

The innovative building design is a departure from a prevalent all-glass tower aesthetic towards a more grounded, textured design that utilises progressive façade and material selection. A thoughtful use of natural materials creates a distinctive residential character including brickwork on the podium to introduce warmth and a traditional residential feel; metal elements that pay homage to the industrial heritage of the port area and concrete for its inherent qualities.

HOME Docklands facilities are truly world-class. Architectural and design innovations integrate high-quality, built-in joinery to enhance functionality of flexible spaces; acoustic engineering allows for unconventional amenities like free weights and a boxing bag in the gym; masterful planning of level three amenities that optimise orientation, outlook and function, and ceiling height variations used to create distinct atmospheres in different spaces. Unique features like a curated vinyl record collection in the music room, add depth to the resident experience. An emphasis on warmth with colour and materiality throughout the interiors is balanced with functional design and meticulous attention to details including dedicated dining areas and ample storage for practical, comfortable living.

Offering leases ranging from six months to six years, HOME Docklands provides flexibility and security. Apartments can come furnished, unfurnished and with appliance options. The introduction of studio apartments at the Docklands location is a first for the developer; versatility of apartment and amenity design caters for different age groups and preferences as well as family- and pet-friendly living reflecting the evolving demographic of the area.

HOME Docklands houses approximately 1,300 residents offering a range of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments available to lease. The Docklands location further expands HOME's already 1,500-strong community across HOME Southbank and HOME Richmond.
