Project Overview
The ‘CO-WITH GARDEN’ was a temporary garden installation featured at Bangkok Design Week 2022, held from February 5th to 13th. Located in the front plaza of the historic Grand Postal Building in the Bang Rak District of Bangkok, this project was developed in collaboration with the Creative Economy Agency (CEA) as a strategic partner.

Concept and Design Intent
The project’s core idea was to transform a dry, underutilized plaza into a vibrant, functional public park. Through the use of an impermanent garden design, the space was reinvigorated to serve both eventgoers and the local community. The design concept, “Home-Forest,” drew inspiration from the various rooms in
a home, each offering a distinct atmosphere and function within a lush, green environment.
The garden was divided into different "rooms," each tailored to specific activities. By creating distinct zones, the design offered visitors an immersive experience that reflected the different ways people interact with their living spaces.

The Bedroom:
To promote relaxation, this zone was filled with air-purifying and aromatic plants, creating
a refreshing and calming atmosphere. In addition, a cool-toned color scheme featuring shades of blue, white, and purple was used to further enhance the sense of tranquility. The lush greenery helped to cleanse the air while the gentle fragrances enhanced the sense of tranquility, making these spaces ideal for unwinding.

The Backyard & The Dining room Zone:
The backyard space blended seamlessly with a nearby market area. Here, large square planters were arranged to hold a variety of edible plants, including herbs and vegetables. These planters were designed to be flexible, allowing for reconfiguration in response to different event needs. The market zone, with its kiosks and colorful street furniture, allowed visitors to enjoy fresh snacks surrounded by greenery. This integration of nature invited the community to experience a more sustainable and interactive market environment.

Sustainability and Community Engagement
One of the key principles of ‘CO-WITH GARDEN’ was sustainability. After the exhibition concluded, all plants and furniture were repurposed and donated to local communities, contributing to the ongoing green spaces in the surrounding area. This approach not only supported environmental stewardship but also encouraged a sense of community ownership and participation.

Conclusion
‘CO-WITH GARDEN’ successfully reimagined an underused urban space, transforming it into a dynamic public park that embraced both nature and community. By integrating functional spaces with elements of creativity and sustainability, the project demonstrated how temporary garden installations can enrich public spaces and enhance the quality of urban life.
